UK Old School Hip Hop Vinyl 1982 - 1988

Much has been written about the golden era of UK Hip Hop during the late 1980's and early 1990's, groups such as Hijack, Demon Boyz, London Posse, Gunshot, Hardnoise and Silver Bullet etc are quite rightly looked back at with admiration and respect.

However, the first era of UK Hip Hop vinyl to be released between the years 1982 and 1987 is often overlooked or forgotten, there were many records released during this period. Hip Hop was still a very new phenomenon in the UK and many of the UK records replicated the sound of the US imports, nevertheless some very good and interesting records were released. These UK releases are all significant in the fact that they are all a part of the history of UK Hip Hop and were relevant at a time when Hip Hop was still establishing itself in the UK.

On these pages I have attempted to capture details on all the UK Hip Hop releases between the years 1982 and 1987, I have also included a limited number of releases from 1988 to include records released in that year that don't generally get mentioned.
